Steve Johnston BA (Hon's), Professional Website Designer

Steve is a professional Freelance Web Designer with a background in photography and desk top publishing. Upon completion of a diploma in design and a degree in photography, he has worked solely within the field of website design and development. His skill set includes graphic design, web design and development, Search Engine Optimisation, full ecommerce solutions and copywriting.

Website Designer - Squirrel Internet Technologies (July 1999 - April 2000)

Immediately after leaving university with a degree in Design (Photography) and 2 years experience in Photoshop, Steve was offered the position of a 'trainee website designer' and immediately gained commercial experience in web design brief / production; web authoring packages; HTML & Javascript knowledge; image and graphic optimisation; web server management and website promotion.

Webmaster - Draycott Internet Business Consultancy (April 2000 - November 2000)

Webmaster for all company websites in the online gaming/casino industry. Technical and editorial responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a large portal. Worked with technical manager and his assistant to develop new promotional tools. Responsible for ensuring all content was up to date. Responsible for monitoring competitor activity and Internet technology.

Webmaster - Insurance Village PLC (November 2000 - July 2001)

Testing, quality assurance, and the implementation of the website within a third party hosting solution. Trouble shooting and operations management of the website – liaising with insurancevillage call centre staff, software developers and the hosting technical support team. Management of client feedback – reporting to appropriate department and responding back to client.

Intranet Administrator - GTRM (November 2001 - February 2002)

Short term contract for the improvement of functionality and re-designing sections of a large Intranet. Day-to-day administration of Intranet documentation and server management.

Website Designer - eC-Plus Ltd (February 2002 - August 2003)

Within a small team environment Steve was primarily responsible for all 'front-end' design and development of client websites, working alongside a database developer and SEO specialist.

Website Design & Internet Marketing Consultant - QBS Group (August 2003 - October 2006)

Creating and implementing the web design 'division' of the QBS Group, Steve was solely responsible for all design, development, marketing and maintenance of websites to a wide range of SME clients.
